The Perfect Shoes

Have you ever had one of those mornings where nothing fits right or you don't have the right shoes for your outfit. I know everyone has gone through this. It can really ruin your day when your outfit is all wrong. Don't worry I solved the problem. I ordered the perfect shoes and picked them up when I got to work. I had to work a long day so I was a little nervous about wearing new shoes and wondering how my feet would react. Well my new favorite shoes are the keely by Bobbi Blu. I have never been so happy with shoes. I was on my feet for 10 hours in a heel without one problem!! I recommend these shoes! Not only are they stylish but they are comfortable which is not easy to find.

Sweet and Sexy

Laura – Getting ready for an evening out always rings the question “what to wear?” You want to dress up, but don’t want to be to dressy. So what are some good options for these types of situations? I will always opt back to the dark denim. It’s sexy, slimming, and can make any outfit look a little more evening wearable. In my outfit today I have paired some dark, ankle length Citizens of Humanity jeans with a blousy, fun Susana Monaco top, along with my favorite Lovely People heels. The outfit is sexy and kept simple. I always try to pair these pants with a roomier shirt/blouse since my bottom half has a more form fitting piece. It just helps balance the body a bit. Shauna – I love this outfit. There is nothing sexier or more lady-like on a woman than a sheer blouse. My boyfriend absolutely loves this one on me. Paired with a skinny leg black jean, the look is both comfortable and classy. I can wear this to work or out for dinner with friends. It is the perfect day to night outfit and we all love that option. Note the J Brand jeans (which I absolutely love). This brand is incredible – incredible cuts, incredible comfort – I just love it. I highly recommend this brand. Sara: Sweet meets classy is my favorite way to dress. The look is appropriate for any situation. I can wear it to work and after work for a little fun out with the girls. Today I am wearing a bubble skirt that is not only flattering on but spices up my casual Splendid Henley. My bubble skirt sits higher on my waist which allows me tuck in my shirt to show off curves which is a hot look this season. Paired with a beaded black necklace and my favorite Jeffery Campbell “Flapper” flats this outfit shows off my sweeter yet sassy side.

Denim Divas

Laura - if your looking for a new denim look and haven’t tried any True Religion Jeans…take a minute to look them up and see how cute and flattering they are!!! If you stay up to date with celeb gossip and fashions you’ll know that this denim line is popular with them as well. My ultimate favorite style is called the “Joey”, which is the pair that I’m wearing in this picture. The flap pockets are a good look for the booty along with the flare leg adding length to my legs. The only last thing I have to say about this look is “love it”.

Shauna - With the wide leg trouser being all the rage this fall, I decided that I must own at least one pair. Working in the fashion business and all, it is essential that my wardrobe remains as up-to-date as possible. I debated on altering the length of these trousers, eventually deciding to wear them with flats. I’m a high heel girl at heart, however, as I get older and am on my feet longer – the decision becomes less and less difficult. Luckily, there are many great options in flats this season and I will have no trouble treating my feet to a pair of fabulous shoes.

Sara - Like Laura I enjoy True Religion Jeans. They are fun and flirty at the same time. In this picture I am wearing the “Joey” in an ashbury tone. The ashbury color makes any style look fabulous. I paired them with a classic three dot elbow tee to make the look more casual. Definitely check out this brand it will soon become your one of your favorites!

Now that we’ve told you a little about our personal styles we will explain what it is we do for a living and why we consider ourselves to be three very fashion savvy young gals…

We live in a somewhat small town, yet we are lucky enough to work at a super fabulous, trendy boutique called jb and me. (www.jbandme.com) JB carries brands that usually can only be found in big cities such as Chicago and Detroit. Besides Sundays (when we are recovering from Saturday nights) we spend each and every day fitting people into designer jeans and outfits that work well for their bodies and their lifestyles. We love it. We hope that this blog will entertain you, inform you and bring a little style into your life!

Who is jb and me?

The exceptional bond shared between mother and daughter is the foundation of jb and me….

Maribeth VanZalen and Jamie Grasman have been spending time together for the past thirty years. As mother and daughter, they have a deep friendship nurtured by countless family occasions such as boating trips and vacations up north. Their much cherished “girl getaways” served as the catalyst for their future partnership in the fashion business.

Both women have an innate sense of style, tweaked by countless hours of shopping and discussing the latest fashions. Perhaps it is a genetic trait passed on from generation to generation or simply an acquired talent…whatever the case, the two women have became authorities on all things stylish.

The idea of jb and me first began on the way back from a weekend of shopping in Chicago. Maribeth and Jamie found themselves dreaming of opening their own store. They discussed all aspects of the business, from which lines they would carry to the type of service they would strive to offer. They both agreed that a unique boutique experience was just what Holland, MI needed, and thus, they set out to create just that.

The two promised each other that they would always put their faith in God and their relationship as Mother and daughter first. This steadfast foundation has influenced the success of jb and me for the past ten years.

In March of 1997, jb and me opened in a 1400 sq ft space downtown Holland. Currently, the store features 8,000 sq ft of fashion, situated only steps from its original location. The new store features a denim studio, a great selection of tees and women’s fashion, a bath and beauty bar and home accessories. In August of 2004, jb and me opened a sister store just down the street called Sole Mate. Sole Mate specializes in shoes, accessories, jewelry, and handbags.

Currently, the ladies are launching an on-line store that will offer the same products and services that have made jb and me (the store) successful. They hope to bring the personalized service, the quality products and the unique experience of jb and me to the web.
